This life sized portrait of John Curry is a memorial to Mr. Curry's skating
genius. It was commissioned by the British National Skating Association and
an American Patron. Mr. Curry who died of AIDS, was a former Olympic and
World figure skating champion who valued aesthetics over athletics. He was the
first to form a balletic skating company and forever changed the face of
professional ice skating as performed today. This monument is to be erected at
the site of the new John Curry skating rink in Nottingham England, 1999.
